At the request of a few of you, it's friending meme time again! <3 This is a friending meme for fans of Dean-centric hurt/comfort, so you TOTALLY don’t have to be a watcher or member of the comm to participate, but you should be a fan of Dean and his epic manpain.

I first found out how much I liked h/c when I was in Buffy fandom, just the idea of seeing poor Spike hurt and then having either Buffy or Angel save him...

What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) emotional, mental, physical, torture... not much of a fan of illness h/c though I'll read it often enough
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) Castiel, I'll read the occasion Sam centric h/c but for some reason it doesn't interest me as much as when Dean's the one being hurt, other fandoms, Katnis and Finnick from the Hunger Games, I mean poor Finnick is canonically a sex slave, it doesn't get any more h/c than that. Spike from BtVS, Peter Parker
Anything else? I'm not really into wincest, but I can be tempted when the fic has evil or soulless Sam and involves dub- or non-con.

I'm a big fan of slavery fic and non-con and I love mentally ill Dean, or at least Dean in a mental institute or prison. And I really think that Victor Henricksen is majorly underused in fic.

And people still need to write me fic based on 511 *grumble*, that ep so disappointed me when they made it funny, instead of angsty, it just had so much potential that the ep didn't live up to *grumble*

I'm totally with you on 5.11, I love the episode but I wish it was more angsty. I really wanted to see Dean get psychoanalyzed, at least. And Dean definitely doesn't have narcissistic personality disorder, I don't understand why they would say that.
I so wish someone would write fic of Dean & the psychiatrist's conversation after she said "let's talk about your father."

What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? Hmmm, I like all kinds really. I do quite enjoy fics with the boys patching each other up and I also LOVE fics where Dean wears Sam's clothes because he's ill or something.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) I've always been into H/C. I read intensely as a child, and my favorite books were the ones in which the characters got sick or hurt! (I'm awful!) Then, about ten years ago, I discovered ff.net had a keyword search, and the fun was ON!
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? Mild illness is my all-time fave. Angst is great if it's done right, but it's tough to do right.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) Sam whump is fantastic. Rodney McKay is also fun to beat up because he complains so amusingly, and Daniel Jackson. (If you leave out Mystery Spot, it's possible Daniel's died more times than both Winchesters put together.)
Anything else? Weirdly enough, the fics I write aren't exactly the ones I want to read. What comes naturally to my keyboard is injury, especially leg injury. *shrug*

I discovered my love for hurt/comfort when I was first reading Supernatural fics on ff.net. I just gravitated towards them naturally. The fics that had me realize just how much I love hurt!Dean were roque_clasique's Drive verse and Fire in the Hole by Big Pink.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) Non-con (especially recovery), alcoholism/addiction, depression, insomnia, panic attacks, chronic pain, and anything that involves hands shaking uncontrollably.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) None. Even if Sam is hurt I really only want to see how it affects Dean.
Anything else? Uhh. My favorite type of wincest is when Dean loves Sam but Sam doesn't love him back (romantically). But it's like impossible to find.

Considering the fact that i'm an angst!whore, any kinds of hurt are wonderful. Add to that, the fun of comfort, and it just makes a complete package! i first discovered h/c within Supernatural (and for Dean specifically) in Phantom Traveler

I love Bobby so much and the casting on Death was utter perfection - the tension, but odd sort of cease fire between him and Dean are perfection.

I'm not a fan of Sam/Dean so much - but John/Dean, I'm totally there. Even John/Dean/Sam depending on the story, but I too will not read John/Sam. Alastair/Dean is just beyond fascinating.

Dean was so adorable in Phantom Traveler ;) I love that there we got to see for the first time that very human, semi-irrational fear (that I totally share and would argue is wholly rational...) in a character that up to that had seemed fairly bullet proof on the fear front.

It was a while ago... and it first happened while reading LOTR fiction, it began with the Mellon Chronicles. But that was nothing compare to the h/c from spn fics, I believe my first spn h/c fic was from Wave Obscura... and since then, I've been hooked. Like... Seriously. But it HAS to be about Dean! or mostly Dean.

What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? Emotional, and the famous sneezy!boys. I'm not a big fan of hardcore physical whump, though I'll read that too, if the mood hits. Also, protective!Sam pushes my buttons. HARD.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? Jack/Ianto from Torchwood.

What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) Um, all of the above. I love the angsty, brotherly stuff as well as physical injuries (even torture) & illnesses. I'll even take death-fics. Not squeamish about the graphic stuff either, so bring it on!
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) My main interest is with Sam & Dean, but if other characters from the show are in there, that's fine, too. I DO NOT like crossovers of any kind and I'm not fond of wee!chesters or de-aging fics either.

A good hurt/comfort fic is better than chicken soup and a warm blanket. There's something about being taken care of when you're at your worst, that safety and security, it's just a beautiful thing.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) Started in my adolescence with Joe on Bonanza - loved to see him suffering! But I thought I was very odd in this way and never spoke of it. Never knew this was a common syndrome until about 5 years ago when I stumbled on Bonanza fanfic. Boy did those authors like to whump that boy! I was in heaven! Read everything I could, and while there was a ton of poor writing, there are some amazing authors in that fandom! Now I'm a bit more discerning and only have time for the well written stuff. One of my online Bonanza friends bought me the first season of SPN a year and a half ago and I was hooked.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I like physical hurt best, where Dean ignores the injury and battles on, eventually collapsing. So walking wounded I guess you'd say, though I'll take any H/C I can.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) Joe Cartwright (Bonanza), Steve McGarrett (H50)but it seems that most of the fanfic coming out of this fandom is slash which I'm not into.
Anything else? My favorite authors who love to hurt Dean are Gaelic and Big Pink who wrote a couple of the BEST H/C stories I've EVER read, bar none. A shame she is on to other things. There are others, but these two - wow! And can I just say, JA is the most gorgeous hunk of man I've ever seen - yeah, I have it bad. I could stare at that gorgeous face all day long.

Favourite characters (besides the bros): At the moment, whenever Death comes on screen, my heart beats faster. But I also liked Crowley, Alastair, Zachariah, YED as baddies, and John as...well John. As for the girls, I adored Lisa, young!Mary and enjoyed Bela's deviousness and moral ambiguity. For non recurring characters, I loved Jamie, the beauty who killed the moster in Monster Movie, and Amanda, the well adjusted flight attendant in Phantom Traveler.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) I first discovered my love for h/c when I got into reading fanfictions in Battlestar Galactica fandom. I love the exploration of vulnerability in an otherwise strong and resilient character, and how that vulnerability awakes all kinds of emotions (some may even have been buried or suppressed) in the loved ones, and what choices they would have to make to cope with seeing their beloved getting hurt, and what they can do to help (thus they themselves rise up to the occasions as well). In SPN fandom, I LOVE reading hurt!Dean stories. The reason has a lot to do with Jensen's amazing ability to layer subtle vulnerabilities when portraying a badass Dean. But I can hardly stand hurt!Sam unless he was hurt alongside Dean. I guess this is because IMHO Sam in canon, for the most part, is always in need of protection. So I think when Sam breaks out of his character and becomes the protector instead, he really shines.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) Stargate SG-1 (my first online fandom ever), and Daniel Jackson, introduced me to H/C. For me, Daniel has *victim* written all over. The SG-1 H/C fictions are the reason for me falling in love with H/C. Some of the (old) SG-1 fictions are still on my all time favorites list (Btw, SG-1 is also the fandom which introduced me to slash. Jack/Daniel is, until today, my favorite pairing) Then I`ve added Farscape and John Crichton to my H/C reading list. And I have to say, John Crichton H/C makes my hear skip a beat, awesome. Even after all those years I have to say H/C is my favorite genre, when it comes with reading fictions, and with vids. My very fist video has been a vid done for SG-1, episode "Meridian". This ep, is hurt galore. So I guess I can say, reading SG-1 H/C before I staretd doing vids ruined me for good. H/C, sometimes hurt only is, until today, my favorite vid topic (for all of my shows)

I can't remember a time since I've been reading books or watching shows/movies in which I didn't love the H/C. I always loved it when my favourite character got whumped because, most of the time, we discovered something new about them or it was a great friendship/team episode. I'm more a comfort than a hurt girl but I take everything as long as there is some comfort in it.

I think the whole h/c thing is actually in my genes. I remember watching shows when I was five and falling in love with episodes that featured my favorite characters stuck in rivers/falling down cliffs/being in the hospital only to be rescured by their awesome co-stars and rewatching those episodes to the point where I could recite them word for word. I started writing (terrible) h/c fic long before I knew fanfiction existed. It's just something that stuck, I guess.
