At the request of a few of you, it's friending meme time again! <3 This is a friending meme for fans of Dean-centric hurt/comfort, so you TOTALLY don’t have to be a watcher or member of the comm to participate, but you should be a fan of Dean and his epic manpain.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) Started in my adolescence with Joe on Bonanza - loved to see him suffering! But I thought I was very odd in this way and never spoke of it. Never knew this was a common syndrome until about 5 years ago when I stumbled on Bonanza fanfic. Boy did those authors like to whump that boy! I was in heaven! Read everything I could, and while there was a ton of poor writing, there are some amazing authors in that fandom! Now I'm a bit more discerning and only have time for the well written stuff. One of my online Bonanza friends bought me the first season of SPN a year and a half ago and I was hooked.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I like physical hurt best, where Dean ignores the injury and battles on, eventually collapsing. So walking wounded I guess you'd say, though I'll take any H/C I can.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) Joe Cartwright (Bonanza), Steve McGarrett (H50)but it seems that most of the fanfic coming out of this fandom is slash which I'm not into.
Anything else? My favorite authors who love to hurt Dean are Gaelic and Big Pink who wrote a couple of the BEST H/C stories I've EVER read, bar none. A shame she is on to other things. There are others, but these two - wow! And can I just say, JA is the most gorgeous hunk of man I've ever seen - yeah, I have it bad. I could stare at that gorgeous face all day long.

LOL, I too discovered h/c back in the Bonanza days when Little Joe was always getting into some sort of trouble and his father and brothers just had to carry him around and take care of him, so it's good to see another person who got started back in the day!

BONANZA! FTW! While I liked me some hurt!Little Joe, I really fell hard when Alias Smith and Jones came out. Pete Duel *salivates* When he took his life, I was a teenager and I remember sitting in my room crying for hours.

Being a fan of the western genre, that's why any fic with Dean as a cowboy just pushes all my friggin buttons. Have you read gaelicspirit's Heros for Ghosts (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5942549/1/Heroes_for_Ghosts)? If you like westerns, that's an excellent story, though I'm being a bit redundant :D.

Mirrordance at ffnet (she doesn't have an LJ) is amazing too. Give her stuff a try. You'll be hooked.

Anywhoo.. I haven't gotten past reading all the great posts to post one myself so I'll just say hello and I'm 47 and live in Texas. Gotta love the diverse demographic of this fandom. It's really is quite rare and for a massively huge fandom, that says a lot about this show and how awesome it is.

Hi jackfan2, yeah, I loved ASAJ too - anything with bro-mance and horses, I'm there! I fell for the Kid myself, but I so remember the day Pete Duel died.

Thanks for the heads up on Mirrordance. I don't believe I've read her fic. I am a huge fan of Gaelicspirit and have read everything she's written. I said in another post here that Big Pink is also amazingly talented - very dark, but hurts Dean emotionally and physically in the best way. I don't think she posted on LJ, I read her on fanfic.net Unfortunately, she stopped writing SPN fic to branch out into original fic.

Yes, it is very cool how SPN spans so many age groups.

Big Pink is one of my favorites! I also love pdragon76 and kimonkey7. Some of the best gen authors seemed to have moved on but I still go back to what they wrote over and over.

Oooh me with the Little Joe too! My sister and I always lived for the episodes and moments where he was hurt. hehe The more h/c the better. lol
