The author says she thinks there's a series of sorts forming between these stories, but you don't have to have read the earlier story. It's more a thematic series. Anyway, yay! I’ve read, bought, and loved various incarnations of John in fic. But I really love the daddy!John that we have here, and I think it makes so much sense that he would revert back to his earlier protector role rather than the hunter/force of nature role he takes on later, when faced with this kind of situation. There's that common thread between all of the pre-series recs in this post, actually, which is just one of the reasons why I love them.

hehe it is good! I've been writing a lot about fire and have typed so much stuff about burning and smelling smoke and inhaling soot I've gone cross-eyed. I just thought it was amusing that today the recs were about fire. \o/ YOU ARE IN MY BRAIN.
