Spoilers: For season 9
Summary: Set during season 9 (reference to/spoilers for Mark of Cain) - Dean's alcoholism finally catches up to him, he is told he has alcoholic liver disease and needs to quit drinking, but he doesn't want Sam to know. Dean wants to prove to himself that he can quit 'cause if he can't fight this addiction then how can fight the desire for the blade? But things don't go as planned and Sammy has to step up and show his brother that he does still care.
Author's note: I decided to write this fic for the addict parallels between the MoC and Deans drinking but mainly because I get annoyed about how the show has glossed over/ignored Dean's alcoholism for yearsss - as someone who has struggled with it myself it is SUPER obvious to me that he is an alcoholic and bad enough of one that he would actually be feeling the side effects by now and that he would be seriously ill when he quits ... It's a brand new fic and currently unfinished but if you like some season 9 angsty Dean, alcohol OD/withdrawals and some good old fashioned Em.Hurt/comfort ;).

Wow, this is really amazing even if it is painful to read. I agree that Dean's alcoholism has been glossed over in the show and would be affecting him more by now. I like your reasoning for Sam's behavior towards Dean and that he's still trying to look out for him while ignoring him - but he's ignored him too well, I fear! Dean's internal thoughts are heart breaking, and so in keeping with how his character seems to feel on the show. This should really be an episode! Sorry for the rambling review, loved it, can't wait for more!

No that wasn't rambling at all! thanks so much :) yeah seriously (in ep 9x17) finishing a whole bottle of secret whisky PLUS beers and shots - that is not normal haha and he would definitely have a bad case of the shakes. I hope the show does even just a little bit more with it this season!
