Date: 2016-02-15 10:06 pm (UTC)You might recognize the premise... I apparently have the worst habit of filling my own prompts, LOL. It's preseries, so Dean's around 20, Sam's 16, and John's finally found him after months of looking. They actually find him by accident, so they are NOT prepared for what they find. The situation is really gnarly, because
trauma is fun and I am trashwhat better revenge is there on a hunter than to turn him into a monster and force him to act like one? They've locked him in a basement and have been waiting until he's completely starved before tossing humans down with him.For this type of vampire, I've been working off of the idea that, since they are undead, vampires don't die of starvation. They just... Dry out. So at this point Dean's all skin and bone and claws, and not in any shape to be a threat (something Dean himself is a bit grateful for). I wanted to write something that didn't end in the stereotypical 'John puts turned!son down', you know? I wanted to force him to be comforting. So the broken!Dean is out in FORCE.
In terms of things I've already planned/done... He was down there for a long time, so there's a lot of bad associations going on. Shut doors if there aren't enough windows. Being around people, especially Sam. His instincts are too strong not to drink blood if it's offered, but he's been traumatized with it so much that he panics afterwards. There's definitely carried!Dean; he's too weak to do much of anything for himself right now, and certainly too messed up to do his whole "I'M FINE" thing. I have a scene in the works right after they bring Dean back to the motel room where John gives a very sleepy nocturnal Dean a bath... Those damned vampires didn't exactly pick up after themselves. And there's so much sad fatherly angst on John's part. SO MUCH. While Dean's still "there" and doesn't have any problems recognizing Sam and John, he's too physically unwell to be able to devote effort towards keeping himself from acting like a vampire. So far that's just manifested in starvation making him incapable of retracting his claws and fangs but I'd like more. I want to do something with the "vampires are social creatures" thing, but I'm not sure what yet.
