[mod post] New Tags + Tags Revamp

Dear hoodie_time, thank you so much for your thoughts and support regarding our earlier discussions about tagging and caretaker!Dean. Long overdue, we'd like to draw your attention to two new tags:

[warning: other hurt characters]
[warning: caretaker!Dean]

To condense and clarify the points raised by everyone, some notes on how the tags are defined:

[warning: other hurt characters] is self-explanatory. As long as the fic concentrates on Dean/Dean's H/C, it has a home at hoodie_time, but if you're sharing the H/C goodness with others in your fanwork, please use this tag!

[warning: caretaker!Dean] is more difficult to define. As per our discussions as a comm, many find caretaker!Dean a sensitive issue, because sometimes it feels as though the potential negative ramifications of this (if Dean's caretaking means his own needs are sacrificed) are absent from the narrative. This can be triggering for some, titillating for others. In order to help readers either tread with caution or exuberance, please use this tag if caretaker!Dean features in your Dean H/C work. The work, of course, must still focus on Dean H/C, as per the interests of the comm.

When tagging your works, it's definitely okay to err on the side of caution and use these tags if you're not sure. As mods, we look at everything that gets posted here, so we can always help out, but it's always better to tag up! :P



We've also consolidated and re-designed the MASTERLIST OF TAGS--a monolith of delights that is basically my favorite thing in the world. XD Per the poll, we've gone ahead and condensed the rec tags, and made a few other adjustments to help streamline everyone's experience here.

I've tried to read all the way through a number of tags (ptsd and post-hell, I'm looking at you) and never did make it all the way back. Some day! There's a wealth of stories here. Thank you, Mods, for making it so!

This was such a good idea and I love the new tags-list too. Having the h/c tags first is awesome. One suggestion... did I just miss them? I miss the links to the memes and challenges and the beta list and stuff. I was just looking for a meme and it took me awhile to find it.

We initially took off those tags because the tags list was kind of massive and intimidating with just the fanwork-related tags, haha, but all of the other things are still linked on the comm profile. Would it be helpful if we included a link to the profile, saying that's where you could find links to the other comm things like beta lists, memes, etc.? I'd certainly be happy to add such a link! I'm glad to hear people look through/look for those links as well. :)
