[identity profile] hoodietime.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] hoodie_time
In an attempt to cast our net a little wider, beyond LJ as a platform, we have put up a collection on AO3. It is, rather unsurprisingly, called HOODIE TIME - Dean-centric Hurt/Comfort fanworks. The collection is open, but moderated, and after the jump, we'll explain a little bit about how to use it.

There are two ways to go when you want to submit a fanwork to a collection. The first is to go the collection directly and click the button on top that says "post to collection" (click for pic). AO3 will automatically fill in the information it needs to have to sort a fanwork into the collection when you post.

The other way to add it is to fill in the collection yourself when you post the fanwork. There's a field called "Post to Collections / Challenges" (click for pic), and if you type something into it, AO3 will automatically suggest you the existing collections. There are other collections involving the words hoodie time, so to use this one, you have to select the one called "HOODIE TIME - Dean-centric Hurt/Comfort fanworks".

As mentioned above, the community is moderated. That means, your fanwork will not appear in the collection right away; an email will be sent to the mods, who will then have to approve or deny the submission. That may take a day or two, but we will do our best to get to submissions as soon as we can. If you post Dean H/C on AO3 frequently and we know that you're familiar with what qualifies for [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time and what doesn't, you can also apply to be added as member of the collection. That would mean your submissions will no longer be moderated. We would prefer it if people who are interested in being members of the collection sent us a PM or an email first, though, rather than just requesting to join by clicking the button.

Other than that, there's not much to it. The same rules, guidelines and requirements we have here also apply to the collection (except for tagging, of course, which works a little differently on AO3; feel free to contact the mods if you have any questions about that). Any further questions? Just shoot, and we'll answer!

Can we submit already-posted fics to this collection, or is it for new stuff from this point on only? (either way, I'm stoked to see this, it's a great idea <3)

It doesn't have to be new stuff, you can add older works too. :)

All my Dean h/c is already posted to AO3. Any advice on how to get already posted fics onto the comm? I can't quite figure it out.

Sure. You can add an existing work to a collection at any point by scrolling down to this bit and typing in the name of the collection. There will be a little scroll down menu with suggestions, and if you click on "HOODIE TIME - Dean-centric Hurt/Comfort fanworks" AO3 should select it. Once that's done, there will we be a little button with the name of the collection and an x at the end to remove it again, and if that shows up it should be saved to the collection. When saving your edits, there should be a note from AO3, saying the work has been added to it.

I hope that helps. :) Feel free to ping me again if it still refuses to work.

OOps, just clicked 'join' over there before I read this, sorry. I don't post that frequently so just ignore. I'm fine with being moderated when I do.

Good move, btw. Love LJ to bits, with all its bangs and whistles, but it's not always the most reliable place in this world.

Alright, noted. XD And yeah, true. We'd like to spread out further than that, actually, but there's only two of us active around here now and we're human, lol.

Yay! I'm loving the positive response to the A03 collection; and it makes me so happy there will be a nice big Hoodie_Time shaped country over there, too. :D

FEELING COMPELLED TO GO LEAVE KUDOS ON ALL OF THEM, TBH. Though lol I've managed to reign in the urge. I will simply do that once, you know, I've actually read them all. XDD

Hi there!

Umm... is there any way I can subsribe to this collection? You know, to get a notification whenever a new fic is posted? Or maybe an RSS feed?

Great job of creating this collection! AO3 is awesome for the way you can download in epub straight to your e-book reader!

As far as I know, there's not. All the AO3 FAQ's got to say on the matter is that it's "planned for the future". With AO3, that can mean anything from next week to the day hell freezes over, grrrr. And iirc, the RSS feeds are only working with tags. :/ Sorry.

Thanks! ♥

Very exciting! AO3 is great in a lot of ways (although as someone above pointed out, there are features that would be great to have that haven't been implemented yet). I just submitted something to the collection - can't wait to peruse everyone else's works!

Yeah, tracking a collection like that would really be useful, but alas... :/ I've tried to look into alternatives, but really, RSS feeds and all that jazz isn't exactly my forte (read: I pretty much know jack shit about it), so that wasn't very successful.

AND YES! More H/C is always a good thing. /rubs hands
