Qui Non Somnus (Those Who Do Not Sleep) by authoressnebula
Author's note/summary: Written for hoodie_time's Dean-focused h/c comment-fic meme. Prompt: Dean is hit with a curse that keeps him from sleeping and he starts to suffer the symptoms of severe sleep-deprivation, ie: heightened emotions, hallucinations, confusion. But especially heightened emotions!

Reccer's notes: As I said in my original feedback to this - I really appreciated how the author wrote this, how it let us see an openly emotional Dean we don't usually get to see, but it wasn't overdone at all. It fit, and it was touching, and it was perfect. Really nice job.

Author's notes/summary: “If everybody contemplates the infinite instead of fixing the drains, many of us will die of cholera.” John Rich / Written for the Dean-focused h/c fic challenge on hoodie_time, in answer to the prompt: "Future!Dean, future!Castiel, set in the 5.04 AU, circa. 2014. The conditions under which the resistance fighters live make them vulnerable to disease. Dean, Cas, et. al. struggle to deal with the an outbreak/epidemic of some disease... Dean eventually succumbs (to the disease, to exhaustion, even to despair, but something with physical symptoms, please, not just emotional distress). Castiel is there for him." Reccer's notes: I loved the episode “The End,” and this fic made me love it even more! This is an amazing and poignant imagining of how Dean and Castiel's future selves might relate to each other. Every well-placed mention of Sam just made my heart clench up.

Author's notes/summary: Sam won't let Dean sleep, because when Dean sleeps, he's ... not himself. Hurt!sleepdeprived!Dean. 2,139 words. Set in season 5. Rated PG-13 for swearing. Gen.

Reccer's notes: This was fantastic! Sam is protective in this simultaneously tough and gentle way, which is exactly how I imagine season 5-era!Sam would react to such a situation. And we get bonus protective!Bobby, who I love aaaalmost as much as protective!Sam.

Author's notes/summary: After a hunt, Dean finds himself unable to fall asleep. Just a little insomnia, right? 15,152 words. PG-13, gen.

Reccer's notes: This is a neat little casefile. I especially love the part where Dean, critically sleep-deprived and knowing that it's only going to get worse, tells Sam to take a break from research/finding a cure for him, that Sam looks worse than Dean does. That's so THEM.

Reccer's notes: The stream-of-consciousness way this is written really conveys that awful, trance-like state of being sleep-deprived. I may have actually cheered when Sam showed up. Yay, Sam!
