A few ground-rules:

01. To change things up, we’re having a summer-themed comment meme this time around! That means we’re looking for fic OR art prompts involving heatstroke, summer colds, sunburnt!freckly!Deeeean, bee stings, the summer Dean comes back from Purgatory, etc. The list is endless, really; as long as the prompts relate even VAGUELY to summertime, they’re game. And if you have one or two that don’t fit the summer theme, go for it, just try to post some that do fit as well. Yeah. We’re not picky. ;D

This being the comm it is, prompts should of course also include Dean-centric h/c.

02. Comment to this post with your desired characters or pairings, if any, and a prompt. All genres/pairings are welcome, however this is not an RPF meme. Please focus on the fictional characters only.

03. You can leave as many prompts as you like, but one prompt per comment, please. If you've got a few, comment with each separately.

04. Your prompts can be as short or as detailed as you’d like.

05. Scroll through the comments and when/if you find a prompt you like, write a fic or create some art in reply to the comment.

06. More than one comment response to a prompt is totally acceptable, and in fact encouraged. The more fills, the better!

07. Art submissions are very much accepted too! Art larger than 800 px or so should be posted as a thumbnail that links back to the full art, please.

08. When replying to a prompt with your comment-fic or art, put 'FILLED' in your subject line as well as warning for anything that might be triggering, such as non-con, self-harm, etc. You can add anything else you want too, ie: a title if you have one/part numbers. So, your subject line should look something like this:

FILLED: Title, Character(s), genre/pairing(s), Rating, Warning(s) - if any

For further clarification:

It’s not a big deal if you don't do all of this, but using 'FILLED' as well as warnings will make it easier for people to find your fic, and for the mods when we’re compiling the masterlist.

09. Anonymous posting is enabled in case you’re embarrassed by your schmoopiest of schmoopy hurt/comfort fantasies or something, haha. IP logging will also be off during the weeks the meme is at it’s most active.

10. No spoilers for upcoming episodes, please. For any prompts that might contain triggers, such as non-con, self-harm, etc., you can warn for that before you get to the main part of your request, or you can use the following code to grey-out your text. Just put your prompt/text where it says to.

There's a town in South Dakota where there's a beach where you can swim in the Missouri river - and well, Dean already knows how to swim - so it's time to teach Sam.

That's not what he's forgotten. John's forgotten how easily his fair-skinned seven year old son Dean gets sunburned and that SPF 15 sunblock really doesn't really protect him that well.

This is the part you hate most. The part that Dad and Dean never talk about. But they've felt it before too, and you know it because you've seen it happen. You've seen how that primordial fear rises up from their guts and permeates their bodies, makes them wide eyed and desperate every time something goes completely awry.

Your brain has to tell your body twice to do anything. Dean is lying there in front of you, pale and unresponsive, in a puddle like some kind of drowning guppy, and you have to reiterate to your legs: Down! Get down there!

The knees of your jeans soak up stagnant water as you curl your hands around his cheeks. You yell his name a few more times and shake his head, but nothing happens.

It stinks down here. It smells like sour milk and everything else that's gone bad. How long has he been lying here? Five seconds? Ten? Maybe if you'd got those stupid kids out of here faster...

You feel for a pulse. It's there, under his cool, wet skin. But it's slow and uneven, thrown out of whack by more electricity than it takes to light up the Empire State building. Jesus. What the hell was he thinking?

The kids. They're still outside. You left them on the front porch and told them you'd be back in a few minutes. You gave the little girl your phone and told her to call 911 if you or your brother weren't back in ten minutes.

Dean's barely breathing. You'll have to call 911 sooner than that. You root around in his pockets, trying not to move him too much, not wanting to make anything worse. You need someone to tell you what to do.

You press Dean's cell against your ear and the operator tells you that you shouldn't have touched him. That you could have electrocuted yourself right along with him and then what? She says you're lucky and you laugh briefly and hysterically. Please, you say. Just tell me what to do.

So yes. It's a hot summer day. The boys are goofing off out in the wilderness. Teen!Dean is showing off for Sam by climbing a tree when he encounters a wasp's nest, and when they start stinging he looses his balance and falls. Maybe breaks his arm, or hits his head? Pick your poison.

Dean and/or Sam did *really* well in school this year--well enough to win free tickets to a Royals game! Hunting's slow, and John thinks it's high time he *did* take the boys to a baseball game, so they're going unless someone's in the hospital.

I know this has been done so many times but there can never be too many people-think-Dean's-being-abused fics. :D

After wrapping up a case somewhere warm and near the sea, Sam demands that they take a day off and go to the beach. Dean isn't trilled because a) sun = lobster red Dean and more stupid freckles, and b) he's all bruised and cut from being tossed around by the ghost/whatever while Sam did some grave-digging, but goes anyway. Cue other beach-goers drawing their own conclusions about their (clearly abusive!) relationship based on Dean trying to hide under the sunshade, all dressed up (or shirtless if Sam talks him into taking it off), while Sam parades around in swim trunks. Bonus points for Sam being all bewildered at the dirty looks he keeps getting and then going on super-protective and caring mode when he realizes what they're thinking.

Gen and wincest are both fine.

Gen. We've seen Sam's psyche splitting when the Wall came down, but what if Dean went through the same thing after his return from Purgatory? (Hope the fact that he returns during the summer is enough... *shifty eyes*).
Maybe Dean can't fully suppress his darker self after he has to let it out again to survive. You know, that part of him that we saw when he was torturing Alastair ("you make me walk through that door, you will not like what comes back out"), and it begins popping up again -- not necessarily going around torturing people, just that cold, dead-eyed, numb version of him. Maybe, once that door is open, things begin to unravel and other parts come out, too, like the soft, pained, terrified, and traumatized Dean that is always so neatly tucked away. Or something else entirely.

It would be cool to maybe see whoever Dean is with coping with this (extra cookies if it's Sam). Don't mind the details, if you have a different meme-themed-related angle go for it - as long as it's Dean with more than one identity/self.

As an incentive to get Dean to do better in school, John promises 16 year old Dean that he can lead a hunt, everything from picking it, to researching it, to taking out his first big bad if he doesn't fail anymore tests.

Dean works his butt off, but gets bad news- He has to go to summer school.

The reason is up to the author, but I would like it if its because a teacher thinks he might have a learning disability and whats to test him for it.

One thing about hell is that it was really hot and dry, and kinda, in some places, like the horror-version of a desert. Once Dean's back, it's not much of a problem; they happen to pick hunts in colder regions most of the time, and if they do end up somewhere summery, he can bottle it up well enough.

Until they stumble upon a hunt in New Mexico (or, you know, wherever) in the middle of summer, and get lost in the desert... To make matters even worse, feel free to throw in a heatstroke? Ahem. XD

I've been sitting on this for a while now, and I hope it's okay to cross-prompt (is that a thing?). My apologies if you've seen this in a similar version in the Sam meme, but I am currently (huh! Currently) fascinated with dissociation fics and reaaallllly want this filled.

Dean and those who love him have known for a while now that his brain tends to shut down when things get to be too much. He just finds himself... fading away for a while. When these episodes occur, when the light bulbs in his head start flickering then going off one by one, it's anybody's guess how and where it will end. Which is never a good thing, but it's seriously bad for a hunter, yes?

After Dean's return from Purgatory, Sam wants his brother to adjust to life slowly, and talks him into staying put for a while and just enjoying the summer (see, right there!) in a little beach town. But either they come across a hunt, or the sunny, quiet life isn't doing Dean any good -- either way, he just deteriorates and his disconnects become more severe or frequent.

Possible scenarios could involve Dean becoming disoriented and slow and slurry when he really can't afford to be; unexpectedly blacking out on basic things (like maybe his brother's name, or how to load a rifle if they do hunt, or chant in Latin, or just daily basics); getting lost because he can't remember what motel he's staying at; getting picked up by the local police who mistake his altered state for intoxication (I especially like that one); etc. All just ideas -- feel free to go another route.

Bonus points if we see Sam having to protect and mother hen his brother, because Dean becomes way too vulnerable when his mind starts to disconnect on him like that. Forget cocky charm, fake-it-til-you-make-it confidence and ingrained hunter training; he becomes uncoordinated, confused, and way too pliant for his own good. Which can cause problems even in a nice beach town, you know.

Hyper-alert Dean

Dean, for whatever reason, is (or becomes) hyper-alert to the point where it freaking hurts just to go through everyday life. It's not just that he can't stand touch anymore, it's that everything feels like an assault on his senses: smells are so intense he can't go into diners/burger joints to eat, and women's perfumes (or Sam's girly deodorant) have him gagging. Sounds have him jumping out of his skin; everything is always too loud. Even light hurts, and heat? It just kills.
Of course they end up working a case somewhere hot in the middle of August and maybe, because it's summer, it's also full of people (college students?) loudly enjoying their vacation and/or having BBQ's every-freakin-where.
Dean is tired, hungry, his brain feels like it's constantly being bombarded with stimuli all day long, and when he tries to escape into sleep, every little sound wakes him up. He can't find the damn volume button to turn the world back down to normal. And he just wants it all to go away. NOW.

I guess this could easily be crack, which is cool, but my inner h/c freak longs for it to be angsty, because seriously, living like that is enough to make a person really desperate really fast. Desperate Dean is good.
