A few ground-rules:

01. As for what type of thing you should be prompting here, this is a Dean-focused hurt/comfort community, so Dean should be the one in the hurt/comforted role. Your prompts may involve sick!Dean, (yes, please!) angsty!Dean, hurt!Dean, or anything else that results in Dean being on the receiving end of hurt/comfort.

02. Comment to this post with your desired characters or pairings, if any, and a prompt. All genres/pairings are welcome, however this is not an RPF meme. Please focus on the fictional characters only.

Example A: “Sam, Dean, gen, set in season 4. PTSD!Dean has a flashback to hell on a hunt and almost gets himself and Sam killed. Cue guilty, upset Dean and awesome, comforting Sam.”
Example B: “Sam/Dean, fever. Dean has the chills and there is cuddling, naaw.”

03. You can leave as many prompts as you like, but one prompt per comment, please. If you've got a few, comment with each separately.

04. Your prompts can be as short or as detailed as you’d like.

05. Scroll through the comments and when/if you find a prompt you like, write a fic or create some art in reply to the comment.

06. More than one comment-fic response to a prompt is totally acceptable, and in fact encouraged. The more fic, the better!

07. Art submissions are very much accepted too! Art larger than 800 px or so should be posted as a thumbnail that links back to the full art, please.

08. When replying to a prompt with your comment-fic or art, put 'FILLED' in your subject line as well as warning for anything that might be triggering, such as non-con, self-harm, etc. You can add anything else you want too, ie: a title if you have one/part numbers. So, your subject line should look something like this:

FILLED: Title, Character(s), genre/pairing(s), Rating, Warning(s) - if any

For further clarification:

Example: FILLED: Untitled, Dean and Sam, gen, PG-13, self-harm

It’s not a big deal if you don't do all of this, but using 'FILLED' as well as warnings will make it easier for people to find your fic, and for the mods when we’re compiling the masterlist.

09. Anonymous posting is enabled in case you’re embarrassed by your schmoopiest of schmoopy hurt/comfort fantasies or something, haha. IP logging will also be off during the weeks the meme is at it’s most active.

10. No spoilers for upcoming episodes, please. If you're prompting something from a recently aired episode, please be courteous and note that there may be spoilers before you get to the main part of your request. Or you can use the following code. Just put your prompt/text where it says to.

Do the same for anything that might be triggering, such as non-con, self-harm, etc.

When Dean is feeling really crappy, he likes Sam to hold his hand. He'll whine and beg until Sam gives in. Sam is initially weirded out, but, as time goes on, he gets used to it, and even looks forward to the times when he's allowed to hold his brother's hand.

Dean has a tooth ache and is unwilling to go to a dentist. It gets more painful by the minute, but Dean's stubborn and refuses to see a dentist. How it finally resolves itself is up to the author :)

FILL: Pulling Teeth

It starts in June, in a diner outside Omaha, Nebraska - a sharp pain when he chews down on a forkful of pancakes. Pancakes, for fuck's sake, pancakes are soft. Who breaks a tooth on a pancake? And they don't really have time or money to hunt down an emergency dentist, so Dean just swallows some ibuprofen with his soda and ignores it.

By July, in Nevada, and why the fuck are they in these hot-ass ugly desert states in the middle of summer anyway and not even Vegas, with showgirls and swimming pools, and why can't there ever be a haunted casino, huh? Anyway, by July it's an occasional nagging ache, low in his jaw. Except when it flares, and the pain amps up to eleven, spreading slowly from his jaw to the top of his head and down into his shoulder. It'll last twenty minutes or so, then fade back away, and when it's at the peak it's all he can do not to turn to Sam and beg him just fucking hit me in the face please. Dean dips into their precious supply of antibiotics (running low, need to fix that) and ignores it.

The flares come back in September, but this time they're accompanied by random electrical shocks across his lower jaw and throat. The first time one hits he's driving down some dark highway in Ohio and it hurts so bad he actually yells a little, startling Sam out of the research he's doing by flashlight.

"What? What the hell?" Sam yelps, and if Dean wasn't getting over the shock of being fucking shocked, he'd think it was way funnier. As it is, he's got one hand on the steering wheel and one massaging his jaw, and Sam just gives him the stink-eye and says, "you really need to get that looked at, Dean."

"It's just a tooth, Sammy. No one's died from a toothache. Doesn't even hurt now." And it doesn't - except for those random moments when it does, which get closer and closer together until it's pretty much always there, like how he's always kind of tired and sore and it's just one more thing. What else can he do? Dean ignores it.

In November, it's wet and grey and ugly, so it must be Oregon, and now along with the stupid toothache, Dean's forgotten how to swallow. Like, he went to bed fine, and this morning everything hurts and his skin is on fire and swallowing is like eating glass. Just fucking lovely. Sam runs out and gets him some Theraflu, and babies him (just a little, because he's not a fucking girl) and makes him soup. He can't swallow it.

"Dean, I don't think this is the flu, man," Sam says on the second day. "I can see your throat swelling from here." It does look bigger. Dean chokes down another does of medicine, but by lunchtime he can barely breathe. Sam grabs their phones, the keys, and the credit card they save for hospital visits (Dr. Dean Hibbert, Sam had to fight him not to apply in the name Doc Hollywood), and they're in the ER before Dean can even process it; he's too focused on getting even the tiniest flow of air into his lungs. You'd think he'd be used to choking, but it's his second least favorite way of nearly-dying. Flying is first.

It is a good way to get to the top of the triage list, though; and soon Dean's at the center of a hurricane of sublingual swelling and cellulitis and infection and intubation and goddammit he really fucking hates being on a ventilator but he can't get in enough air to tell them or even to fight...

...and then he's opening his eyes to find Sam standing at the foot of his bed, that crease that says more clearly than words jesus, Dean, you have to stop taking care of everyone but yourself or you're going to end up dead, and he tries to say shut up, Sammy but his throat is on fire, even if he can breathe again.

Sam brings him some water, cool and soothing and not a beer but it'll do. When Dean tries to talk a second time, it comes out raspy but clear. "Huh. I guess you can almost die from a toothache."

Although Dean's mind is tough, there is a threshold beyond which the body betrays. Dean hits that point, and despite all his determination to pick himself up and keep pushing forward, his body simply won't cooperate. It starts with pain, maybe weakness, and becomes progressively worse. His appetite, which was sketchy to begin with, nearly disappears, making recovery even more difficult.

This is likely a combination of real and stress-induced dysfunction. It's not something that can be easily overcome with Dean's usual coping mechanisms, since pushing down his emotional responses is what got him into it in the first place. However, it's also not something that can be resolved with an easy emotional breakdown with lots of crying, either. It's just his body shutting down, forcing him to stop. Sam is around, doing his best but not sure how to respond to the situation.

I want Dean to be dumped. AU or canon, familiar or new face - go wild. Though I would like to ask that Dean gets dumped by a guy, and, if possible (though it might not be, considering we all do when it happens to us), not completely villainize the other guy. I just want to see Dean sulk and brood, maybe eat some ice cream and watch bad movies, (strive extra to kill some evil sons-a-bitches if it's canon), and wear his sweatpants for a weak.

Bonus if you get exasperated!Sam and/or Cas to put up with him and try to make him feel better (platonically or not).

Deans deaged to about 3 or 4 and has an imaginary friend, but Sam doesn't think much of it since every child has an imaginary friend. After Dean has a few minor accidents Sam takes him to Bobbys so he can help look after him, but after Dean falls down the stairs, they finally discover the 'imaginary friend' is a child ghost who wants Dean dead, so Sam & Bobby have to race against time to find out who the kid is and salt and burn the body and save Dean.

S7. Dean gets amnesia. Basically losing every memory of the past 6 seasons. So he remembers himself as a basically together guy, fairly upbeat most of the time, etc. But he's in the body of a depressed alcoholic...and doesn't know it. He has all these cravings and symptoms, and he just can't seem to manage the positive attitude he's used to maintaining. It's weird and confusing and scary.

Meanwhile Sam is trying to decide how to handle the situation. He wants to do the right thing--as soon as he figures out what it is.

The Impala is possessed & hits Dean, who ends up badly injured, so after he recovers & leaves hospital, he's a little freaked out being near his car, so Sam has to reunite his brother with his beloved car again.
