[mod post] reminder & update re: rules
Jan. 5th, 2012 08:51 pmWe’ve had some confusion from various people lately with regards to how much h/c for characters other than Dean should be acceptable in fanworks posted here. We know it can be kind of a gray area, as different people have different ideas about what constitutes too much, and of course some love it, some don’t, etc. And it’s even more a gray area in s6/s7, with Sam’s current storyline. So, we’d like to clarify things a bit.
This community has a specific focus, and we need your help to keep it content-appropriate. The old guideline on this in the profile is very similar to the one listed below, but we’ve made a couple changes to it, including asking you to contact a mod for a second opinion if you’re not sure whether your fanworks/recs belong here. We’ve also left out the “or at least an equal amount” that used to come after “more,” because again, people have different interpretations as to what that means, and taking it out seemed a better, more definitive option.
Here’s the new guideline:
To answer a common question, fanworks that include h/c for characters other than Dean are accepted here, however this being the comm it is, these fanworks should include more Dean-centric h/c than they do h/c for any other character. I realize this is subjective; just keep it in mind and use your judgment! ;)
If you think your fanworks/recs are borderline on this issue, please contact a mod for a second opinion before posting.
On that note,
spn_hurtcomfort is a happy alternative if you feel you have a borderline case. ;)
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to be more specific than that; it’s really something that’s looked at on a case-to-case basis.
This is a comm content issue, not a reflection of the mods’ personal tastes. Like in the member-pool at large, some of the mods here enjoy reading h/c about characters along with Dean, while others prefer the h/c to be solely Dean-related. So, any questionable fanworks should get a fair shot between us. Fanworks deemed not fitting will be deleted after letting the poster know.
Thanks for reading, and for hanging out with us here at
