Art: Zine Drawings 1, 2 & 3

I did some drawings last year for an SPN zine story. I'm posting now that they have timed out. The first one shows Dean in an awkward situation with a demon.




Here Sam tracks Dean down and he's not happy with the demon who is just out of frame.



The devil gets his due and Sam saves Dean, of course.



These drawings were done in Photoshop using some very realistic pencil brushes, a watercolor brush and a splattery texture brush in the second one, if I remember correctly. I scanned a piece of watercolor paper to create the texture for the last drawing. I was trying to make it look as if it was really drawn on paper.

My style wasn't consistent from drawing to drawing, it kind of wanders all over the place,  but I did have fun experimenting. :-)

Great facial expressions and angles! While drawing a static portrait is one thing, capturing emotion and different head tilts is a whole other level of difficulty--one to which you rose. Their facial expressions are palpable and I'm particularly impressed by how you drw Dean with his head down--an unusual angle in which you nonetheless rendered his likeness very well. He's very recognizably Dean.

Now you've made me want to read the story your drawings depict. Is it available somewhere?

Unfortunately I don't think the story is online anywhere. It was published in a multifandom zine called Dyad 25 a little over a year ago. The story is slash, called "Like Lightning" by Dovya Blacque and was available thru asidozines.com. Thanks again!

Thank you, that's so nice to hear. I remember when I worked on them way back when, I was sure everything was wonky. I was pretty tired of them and just wanted to hand them over. Now that I see them again, they don't look as bad as I remembered :-D
