Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) I've always been drawn to movies, tv, stories where "some guy" is sick or hurt but somehow soldiers on through it, despite the pain and suffering. Especially if the guy is hot. Much like Dean. And/or Sam. One of the first shows I remember hitting that button was the cartoon version of the show "Emergency," when I was in grade school. Yeah. I love it to pieces, I'm not sure why, but reading, and especially writing h/c makes me feel -- like I'm filling a void of some sort.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I like just about everything, but illness is my addiction of choice, LOL. I feel foolish even typing this because I sound like a broken record, but respiratory illness is so, so awesome. Fevers are good, all sicknesses are wonderful, really. Physical injury is great -- anything, really. I enjoy emotional pain that's tied to physical issues or mental anguish over something.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) Many other fandoms, just to -- experience that "strong, hot guy getting hurt/sick and needing comfort" thing. I don't participate in other fandoms but I'll read Numb3rs, H5O, NCIS, Criminal Minds, 21 Jump Street, just about anything, really. . .
Anything else? I think I'm primarily a gen person, but I do love slash. LOVE IT. But I also like het and really, there are so many talented writers in this fandom that I'm constantly finding new pairing/kinks/things I didn't know I loved/needed until I read them here : )

The more I think about it, the more I realize I've always been into it, but I didn't recognize it as a genre until SPN fandom. I've been getting increasingly interested in the function of H/C in fic (and/or Show itself, heee), in terms of what can be done with it outside of simply presenting a straight-up H/C scenario and adding in the requisite angst and/or fluff on the side. TALK TO ME, FANDOM.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) MINDFUCK. HORROR. HELL/POST-HELL ISSUES. COMFORT!FOOD. FAKE!COMFORT!FOOD (loool, Alistair, anyone?). Dean/alcohol. Sleep deprivation/insomnia. Anything that alters perception and/or causes dizziness, nausea, etc. From poison to fevers to blood loss to pain to um, um. Mindfuck and poison and fevers and, you know, stuff. I've been known to marathon entire tags on hoodie_time, like the respiratory illness, pneumonia, fever, headache/migraine, dehydration, delirium, etc. tags. I spend a lot of time on the tags page, okay. XP I'm pretty unpicky then it comes to Dean H/C, haha, though I tend away from permanent injury, chronic/terminal somatic illnesses, and de-aging. I also reaaalllyyyy adore BAMF H/C, like sistabro said, as well as H/C that comes from unexpected persons (like Ruby! or Meg! or Roy and Walt!, omg.

I love any kind :D (gosh, it sounds so wrong XD) I always thought something was wrong with me for wanting to have my fave character hurt over and over again and then get the comfort and just unfff <333 so glad I found this place haha!

Other fandoms? A lot. Fandoms I`m the most active for (graphics and videos) are NCIS, BSG, Farscape, Stargate SG-1, H5-O, and White Collar. But anything can happen for everything.
I watch, and love, Sons of Anarchy, Californication and Justified. There`s more, but these I concider my main shows.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) I`ve always been in love with h/c. No idea why. Maybe it`s because I love to see a character suffer *is evil*. I`ve started reading h/c when I joined the Farscape and Stargate SG-1 fandoms ( a looooong time ago, good times ;D). There`s some awesome Farscape and SG-1 h/c around, some of these old stories, and videos, are still on my all time favorites list.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I take everything, the more hurt, the better. As long as I can buy the storyline, and as long as the character is not completely OOC, I`m in. If I have to name a favorite, it would be "Fever", and past hell issues (drinking included). Recently I`ve started hunting down storys which take place around Stanford time, with Sam gone. Ohh, the emotional pain *yummy*
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) For SPN, I only Dean read focused, sometimes John. But Dean is my favorite. Beside SPN I only read Farscape and SG-1 (old habbits die hard). John Crichton and Daniel Jackson. Both have "victim" written all over, and suffer just fine. Actually, the Daniel hurt has been what really got me into h/c when I started reading fan fictions.
Although I do a lot for everything listed above, I only read for these three shows (on a regular base)

I was still a relative newbie in all things fandom, even though I wrote fanfic for a certain anime that will not be named for four years. (All I did was write and post on ff.net. I didn't even know LJ or other forums existed where I could talk to other fans.) Yes. Ronny_of_yore is what you might call slow. 
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I'm a sucker for all kinds of h/c, but I absolutely love sick!fic. I love one of them having a cold (especially hardheaded Dean) and the other taking care of them. Its just so cute and makes me all kinds of warm and fuzzy!

Even as a kid when I used to listen to my records of Winnetou – a legendary Apache Indian Chief (utterly utterly noble savage. He dies.) created by a German author.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) Generally the kind where there's more hurt than comfort. Broken bones. Gunshot wounds, knife wounds. Emotional hurt. PTSD. Not so much: sickness, fever, sneezing. Definitely not: amputation or any other kind of permanently disfiguring ailment. (Remember Xander’s eyepatch? *shudders*)

I only know that I loved it as a child when my favourite character got hurt because of the comfort they received afterwards and because that would mean that we discover more about the character and its friends/family/partners...
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I think that regarding H/C there is nothing I won't like. My favourites though are blindness/being seeing impared (glasses!Dean FTW!), being paralysed/having a limp, dealing with live altering injuries/illnesses, exhaustion, learning to trust somebody and finding friends (that spells Comfort in capital letters for me if an outsider/loner learns to trust his Team/friends and realises that they have friends who love and support them no matter what), seizures, hypothermia (brotherly cuddling FTW!) and some more things

(I had never heard of a lot of things, it's been an education!) I'm in it for the comfort, maybe because while Show loves hurting our boys, they rarely comfort them. Someone has to die and come back from the dead before we even get a hug. So h/c fic is like applying a nice balm after Show has inflicted its wounds.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) Hypothermia, because I love platonic cuddling. (idek) I also love fics that explore PTSD, and I love it when Dean is delirious with fever or high on meds, because he's such a hard nut to crack, it's great to get a glimpse under his shell.

Like when you watch a movie and there are certain scenes that are weirdly fascinating but most people in the room probably think it's mostly sad or horrible? Yeah. So I have a thing for pretty men that suffer stoically in general.
(You know what was one of the deciding factor that made me watch SPN when there was just vage awareness that it exists and I'd heard about how insane the fandom's supposed to be? A youtube clip of Dean getting hurt in various ways. LOL SELF)
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I'm not picky and tend to go for h/c with a focus on the hurt side. Not so big on stuff involving colds, permanent injury can squick me. I love stuff about Dean's epic repression, depression and <3hell-issues<3 and I could probably give a list of my favourite tropes there. If you focus on how all that time spent in hell changed him, add in some dissociation, off behaviour and a sense of how strange it is to be back topside I might fangirl you forever.
I also get fluffy moods and then I tend to read curtain!fic.

When I was a kid, I fantasised about characters from books or movies getting hurt. I remember "collecting" inspirational material when I was watching a character I liked getting hurt on a TV show, or reading particular scenes in a book forever on repeat, imagining all the details the writer had not mentioned. There was little to see and a lot to imagine! I felt that what I liked wasn't something I should like, that something was wrong with me, so I never ever talked to anyone about it. Discovering HP fandom and its different genres in 2005 was the best thing that happened to me, since I finally knew that I wasn't the only one.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) I like both emotional and physical hurt. The best kind of hurt for me is when the hurt character tries not to let on how much he hurts and tries to keep on going, for whatever reasons. I like it when the hurt is downplayed by the character as well as the writer, while it's still clear that hurt takes place. Parental discipline is my guilty pleasure.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) I like hurt!Sam, too. And in HP, Draco Malfoy is my favourite character, and seeing him hurt is just one of the many ways I enjoy the boy.

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) I'm not sure I even knew it was h/c then, but I've always kinda liked seeing my favorite characters hurt and someone else comforting them. And this fandom delivers that in spades.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) My absolute favorite is emotional pain. Stories with a strong emotional undercurrent in them are like my crack. There's just so much you can do with it. I love to see how the writers explore the character's emotions, trauma, and how they deal with it. Which is probably why Post-Hell fic is another favorite. Blind and/or deaf is good too. It's got to be completely debilitating to lose one of your senses, and I like to see how authors handle that too. ;) Add in some comfort to any of these and I'm pretty much in heaven.

XD All I know is that as long as I've had favorite "fandoms" I've written my own stories or had daydreams of terrible things happening to my favorite character. Nice angsty H/C things, which for many MANY years made me feel like a terrible person. And then I found the interwebs... and all was GLORIOUS, for I found I wasn't alone. (not by a LONG SHOT) XD. I don't know why we always like to hurt the characters we love... but darnit... if they weren't so PRETTY whilst doing it... *tut*

Talk to us about your thoughts on hurt/comfort. (How/when did you first discover your love for h/c, whatever.) Haha, I think I was a little kid the first time I ever came up with a h/c scenario, and it was totally for that kid in Treasure Planet. :)So I guess I've been a hurt/comfort fan forever.
What’s your fave kind of h/c, if any? (ie: emotional hurt, physical hurt, illness, etc.) Oh man. I kinda love slow-building illnesses, and chronic/permanent stuff is a big plus also.
What other characters do you read h/c fic about, if any? (On SPN, or otherwise.) DiNozzo from NCIS and Kirk from Star Trek especially, but there are a lot more...
