[mod post] rules update/reminder, new genre tags, & reccer status announcement

Please read. I’ve got some fun new tags to share with you, and a few important announcements and reminders too. <3

Item #1: New Rule! As of right now, when posting here, please don’t link to locked material. If you post a link back to your journal, the post should be public. If you wish to post protected material to the community, you can definitely post the story in its entirety behind a cut here at the comm, and lock the post to members-only. ;)

This rule doesn't apply to anything posted before this post.

Item #2: We have some new genre tags, as suggested by some of you. Yay! Previously, there were only genre tags for gen, het, slash, and pre-slash.

There’s still no genre tag for hurt/comfort, as it’s assumed everything that’s posted here more or less falls under that category, however h/c can be comfort heavy or hurt heavy depending on which end of the spectrum the writer/artist prefers, and so there are now genre tags for schmoop/fluff and for dark/horror.

If you have any other suggestions for genre tags, the tag request post is always open, or you can just make any suggestions you may have right in this post. Remember, though, that some genre tags may already be covered by the h/c tags themselves, such as “amnesia/memory loss,” “vessel!Dean,” the “age regression” tags, etc, or in the setting tags, such as “[setting: post-series/future-fic]”. (The complete tags-list can be viewed here.)

You’re encouraged to use these new tags in the future; it will help people find your fic. ;) And feel free to go back and add them to any of your fanworks at the comm if you’d like. I’ll be going back and tagging things with these tags occasionally/when I get the chance as well - in cases where the genre is stated in the header, that is.

The new set of genre tags:

[genre» other: apoca!fic ] i.e., apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic scenarios
[genre» other: au/ar] i.e., alternate universe or alternate reality
[genre» other: case!fic]
[genre» other: crack/humour]
[genre» other: croatoan ‘verse] i.e. fics related to the universe depicted in “The End,” or related AUs
[genre» other: crossover] i.e. crossovers with other shows
[genre» other: dark/horror] i.e., boy-king!Sam, Dean-in-hell, Alastair/Dean, sharp_teeth fills, etc.
[genre» other: domestic/curtain!fic] i.e., fics where the boys (or whoever) settle down, and maybe Dean cooks a mean chilli every Friday night for supper and Sam plants a herb garden that Dean makes fun of and they buy curtains together, idk.
[genre» other: episode related] i.e., missing scene(s) before, during, or after a specific episode
[genre» other: holiday themed] i.e., fanworks with a holiday theme (Christmas, New Year’s, Halloween, etc.)
[genre» other: kink] i.e., involving any sort of kink – bdsm, blood-play, fever!sex, etc.
[genre» other: pwp] i.e. porn without plot
[genre» other: schmoop/fluff] i.e. Low-level angst to zero angst fanworks. Often there is cuddling! <3 <3 <3

Item #3: Also, a reminder as far as tags go - the illness/other hurt tags are applicable to Dean only. Of course you can have more people than just Dean hurting in your fic/fanwork, (although the hurt should be focused mostly on him, obvs) but the tags themselves are used by people to search for what’s going on with Dean, so do keep that in mind. Thanks, guys!

Item #4: I’m going to be using my personal LJ account, maypoles, to post my personal recs here at the comm from now on.

I usually post recs here under the mod account, hoodietime, since that's what I did before I started using maypoles more often for fandom-y stuff, and I didn’t want to change things up. But lately I’ve been having some ISSUES with switching back and forth between journals all the time, so. The mod account will still be used for other modly posts, but not my personal recs. That way, if I ever get co-mod(s) or hand the comm over or whatever, everyone can receive all our comments under one account/update the comment-fic meme masterlists, etc. Haha, look at me, looking ahead.

You’ll be able to find all my rec posts, and rec posts I’ve contributed to - both past and present - under this tag.

I wish I'd thought to use them from the beginning; tagging retroactively is going to be a project, haha. But then I'll be able to have all my domestic/curtain!fic in one place, so that will be AWESOME.

When I started the comm I was a recent uni grad/not yet employed and.... well, things haven't changed THAT much (it's half hilarious/half sad how little a BA means, haha) but the comm's bigger now, of course, and, yeah.
