[mod post] themed comment-meme suggestions?

So, our latest challenge, a Dean-focused h/c tags challenge, is going awesomely! But this is me looking ahead a little to what we should do after this challenge is over, and before the next one.

As most of you are probably aware, we put on a comment-meme here every several months. There are our regular comment memes and the occasional themed comment meme – so far there’s been a Halloween/Autumn-themed one. This year, I’ll probably just make a post of all the lonely prompts from that meme in the fall for people to browse, and do a Winter/holiday-themed one instead to mix things up some.

Anyway, I’d love your input on what other themed memes we should do! Remember that Dean-centric h/c is a factor as well, and while I’m open to anything, try not to get TOO specific. For example, a pre-series comment meme would be a good theme, but a solely Stanford-era meme might be a bit confining.

Two themes I’m personally considering are 1. fever and 2. wacky curses and tropes – such as age regression, truth spells/loss of inhibitions spells, love spells, sex pollen, amnesia, etc. The first one because it’s our most used h/c tag, and also because it’s my faaavourite. The second one just because I think it would be fun. Y/n?

Some other ideas:

Papa John (Dean hurt, Dad to the rescue or if one insists, the cause -- not the pizza :>)

AU of favorite ep (rewrite those moments when we were just certain Dean would get hurt and didn't or make what did happen so much worse)

What came next (choose the hurt from the series and give us the good stuff like Dean falling apart/getting sick after Benders)

Yep! Although AU tweaks would have to be allowed. For instance, I just rewatched S1 Born Under a Bad Sign. Meg did some serious damage to Dean and used Sam's body to do it -- but the coda? It was an ice pack, then hit the road while Sam whined about Dean not killing him like he'd promised.

Um, no. I want to see Dean with a fever from the bullet wound and on a roller coaster of 'need Sam' and 'hurt me, stay away' while Sam actually lets things be all about his battered brother and not himself until Dean's all better. Also, the show hadn't settled on Bobby-as-Dad-substitute yet, so there's that emotional tweak to add in, too.

Seriously. You are not alone! kalliel and I for some reason were tracking our progression through h/c fandom through the "fever" tag, and she was like, "YOU ARE ON EVERY PAGE. SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE. SOMETIMES FOUR TIMES." And I felt as though I should be embarrassed by that, but really I was kind of proud!

Fever is pretty versatile but I'm also a fan of pre/post-series. But then I've never done any wacky curses/tropes, I don't think, so that could be fun, too.

Actually, wait--the specific episode tag one sounds pretty epic. We have our classic episodes like 2x14 or 4x16 and such, but there are so many overlooked ones! Like ones where Dean gets thrown into walls, like 2x16 "Roadkill"... (lol way to walk away with the main point, self). That and vie_dangerouse and I have been slowly rewatching the series and after every episode we're just like HMMM WHERE IS THE H/C TAG!FIC, FANDOM.

I'm a member of chubwinchesters and the latest thing they did was a Recycle meme. Where they taken 50 prompts from previous memes that wasn't filled and you could claim one or two. As claimed no one else could claim it and then you had about two weeks to write the story and everyone had to post the stories on the same day. Wouldn't that be something?

There's our always open Lonely Prompts challenge, but something like that would get more of them filled, for sure. I'd love to do it; the only thing is, idk how it could work with the memes with regards to claiming, since the prompts would still be on meme/open to everyone. I'll have to go check out that comm, see if I can figure something out.

I think you will noticed that they had closed the meme's for new prompts and fills, which I didn't thought of when I first comment.
Though maybe if you choose from the oldest meme's it maybe isn't bad to close them and later have a meme (reclaiming old prompts) with those prompts that still isn't done. A suggestion as I would think many do not go back to far to check up the old prompts, as there always seem to come new meme's and new prompts.

Hey, this isn't a thematic thought, but I did want to throw this your way (though maybe it's been done before my time in fandom): what about something with title prompts? Just titles, maybe ripped from lyrics or poems or maybe not, leaving a lot open to interpretation.

It might be too broad, or not appropriate for this comm, but it'd be kinda neat, I think. ;)

Sorry, no theme-y ideas...all my themes are centered on trauma and mental illness, but a lot of people aren't into that, so...yeah. Heh.

I reaaally like the titles idea; I would prompt like every Tom Waits lyric ever. Many people have also asked for a lyric challenge, which I love too, but I'm worried about some of the prompts being too long, there. I'll have to do a poll on this or something later!
