[Art] Male. Late twenties. Severely injured. No ID in his wallet.

Title: Male. Late twenties. Severely injured. No ID in his wallet.
Artist: petite-madame
Rating: All audience
Characters/Pairings: Dean
Warnings: None. Long title maybe xD
H/C: Hospitalization. IV. Physically injured. Bandaging.
Spoilers: None
Note: Drawn for the A Dean-focused h/c Tags Challenge.

I drew this art for the Dean-focused H/C Tags Challenge of [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time . I was tagged with Hospitalization, Burried alive and Fever. I chose the first prompt because I've always enjoyed drawing hospital environments.

The story behind the art:
The starting point was of course Dean at the hospital (to fill the prompt Hospitalization) but I needed to draw something more than Dean just lying in an hospital bed. In the first version, Sam was standing right behind his brother, looking after him and waiting for him to wake up. It was nice, it was cute but I wanted something darker. I "got rid" of the poor Sammy to let Dean on his own in a gloomy hospital room and came up with the idea that Dean could have been severely injured during a hunt and found almost dead on the edge of a road without his ID. I really wanted to increase the feeling of loneliness in the picture. I hope it was successful.

Tools of the trade: Watercolors - Poster paints - color pencils - pastels (Filters and color enhancement: Photoshop CS + Painter Essential 3)

asdfjklö!!! Holy cow! That is gorgeous!

I love the grey-ish tone of the pic except for the blood and the scrubs on his shoulder.

You captured the lonlyness and the hurt very well.

Thank you very, very much for sharing this pic with us!

I think you REALLY got the sense of loneliness across with this. The dark colouring/shading, the vulnerability in the way Dean's curled up, everything contributes to that, and the result is beautiful. ♥

Amazing work. And you did it so quickly! I'm impressed, as always, by your awesomeness.

It was nice, it was cute but I wanted something darker. I "get rid" of the poor Sammy to let Dean in a gloomy hospital room and came up with the idea that Dean could have been severely injured during a hunt and found almost dead on the edge of a road without his ID.

That's a really interesting backstory! Cool. And, lol, poor disappearing Sammy. I'd love to see that too if you ever want to share, but I'm very happy as is tooo. Thanks for participating in this challenge, and sharing this with us. ;D

Oh. Shit. Fantastic job, love. That look on his face is devastating, and his arm parallel to his face and the cannula and and ;_;

This is really hauntingly beautiful. I love the shading and colours, and I'm really drawn to the way his fingers are curved toward his face; all of his body language is just him curling in on himself. I love it ♥

Holy crap, I'm in love with this! Like...I want to get it framed and put it up on my wall or something. That burned patch...I can't stop staring!

Seriously gorgeous!

Darling this is awesome! It is much darker than you usual style (the desaturation works really well) and I love the slightly grainy texture. I think he actually looks much younger and more vulnerable because you have him lying on his side like that. The deep shadows and the watercolour washes and the pale bloodbag - GUH!

I love this very much! As so many others have said, the coloring choices you made here really enhance the gloomy, hurty, alone atmosphere. Just the fact that he's curled on his side as if trying to protect himself is a nice touch, too. Poor Dean. So vulnerable. Lovely work!

Oooh, fantastic!!! I love the pencils and the lighting on the bag and his should especiallys. Great job with the composition as well; the space above him heightens his alone-ness.
