Title: Before I sleep

A/N: This was conceived as a fix-it (sorta, but not till you break-it-and-then-some-more, apparently) companion piece/sequel  to 'Memory Awake'  I posted a bit earlier, and would, probably make a tinge of more sense if that ficlet is read first. But to the best of my estimations this story is fairly well off on its own too.
Summary: Sam has fled what might be for good this time, resouled yet livid, and Dean is left to carry subsequent dismay and loneliness  to desolation's very edge and beyond. Set after 'Appointment in Samarra', season 6. AU, apparently, with regard to the show's proper development upon ep. 6.11.
