Reccer’s comments: I love the concept behind this one, and I just love it in general. It's a darker fic than is usually my preference, but wonderfully-written and mesmerizing.

Reccer’s comments: This is short, but one of my fave pieces featuring Dean and Alistair’s relationship. The allusions to Stockholm Syndrome are striking and sad, but make so much sense for Dean, and I wish more fic explored it. Having Sam present, trying to understand this connection Dean has with his torturer adds a whole new, emotional layer to things as well.

Reccer #2 says: Do read the warnings! This is a darker fic, and a darker Dean than I'm usually drawn to, but I ended up completely enthralled by it. The writing has a wonderful cadence to it. I also really appreciate how amor_remanet brings a subject like Dean having an eating disorder into the fic in a way that feels organic and true to the character. I haven't seen that very many times. Oh, and there IS a hopeful note at the end if you don't think you can handle all the darkness. A little one! But it's beautiful. (It involves Dean/Cas, fyi.)

Reccer’s comments: There’s a good dose of concerned!Sam and h/c-y ness here, but really, this is a horror fic, and it’s horror at it’s best. It’s chilling and mind-bendy and just wonderfully done. The ending, ahhhhh!

Title: The Big Sleep

Reccer’s comments: This is a such a neat premise for an AU. I like the writing style, and how it doesn’t ignore Dean’s post-hell PTSD issues, and how suspenseful it is. It keeps you biting your nails over what’s going on with Sam.

Title: Devil's Trap

Summary: Written for the prompt: I was kind of bummed when Alastair died. I thought he was one of the show's best villains and I would have been really interested in them exploring his relationship with Dean further. So, what I would like to see is an AU where Sam is unable to kill Alastair in 4x16, or else he comes back to life SOMEHOW (I'm not especially picky about the details here, haha, and if you go this route the fic can be set in season 4, 5, or at some undetermined point in the future.) Anyway, basically I'd just like to see the Dean/Alastair relationship explored. Dean knew Alastair for longer than he's known SAM – what does that do to a person? Does Dean have a touch of Stockholm Syndrome? Does he miss the pain, since it was all he knew for so long? If you go the sexual abuse route, how does that effect someone as sexually active as Dean? How would it would affect him if he had the threat of his old torturer gunning for him constantly hanging over his head along with everything else? Etc, etc.
Reccer’s comments: It's just such an amazing look at Dean's relationship with Alastair, and with Hell in general.

Summary: AU beginning after No Rest For the Wicked. Dean wakes up on the rack to an eternity of torture at Alastair's hands. Meanwhile, Castiel and several of his brothers embark on a mission to rescue Dean from Hell before he can give in and break the first seal. After forty years of fighting, Castiel reaches Dean, only to find that the righteous man is no longer righteous. Castiel resurrects Dean so that he can play his part in the coming Apocalypse. Once back on the surface, Dean has trouble adjusting to life the way everyone (himself included) expects him to. Hell changed him, and he's not so sure if he can or wants to change back.
Reccer’s comments: Pretty much had to rec this. It's one of the most disturbing pieces I've ever read and yet oddly endearing in the way Dean and Alastair co-exist in hell.

Reccer’s comments: This is so haunting and lovely. I love charcoal, and I think it lends just the right atmosphere to this piece.

And I love the quiet, locked-inside-his-own-head look on Dean’s face. It reminds me strongly of OTHOAP, when Alistair let him know just what his breaking in hell had meant for the rest of the world. (God, that episode is my FAVE.)
