Title: Before I sleep

A/N: This was conceived as a fix-it (sorta, but not till you break-it-and-then-some-more, apparently) companion piece/sequel  to 'Memory Awake'  I posted a bit earlier, and would, probably make a tinge of more sense if that ficlet is read first. But to the best of my estimations this story is fairly well off on its own too.
Summary: Sam has fled what might be for good this time, resouled yet livid, and Dean is left to carry subsequent dismay and loneliness  to desolation's very edge and beyond. Set after 'Appointment in Samarra', season 6. AU, apparently, with regard to the show's proper development upon ep. 6.11.
Spoilers: up to ep. 6.11.

Soooo, the due date for A Dean-focused h/c remix challenge is soon - January 7th, and I’ll be putting the masterlist up on the 8th, or maybe the 9th since the 8th is a Saturday and people may be busy doing weekend-y things.

To be fair, even though the original deadline is the 7th, I’ll be adding remixes to the masterlist up to the 9th in any case. If you post your fic after the 9th, it won’t be part of the masterlist, but we’d LOVE to read it whenever. You can use the .amnesty tag when posting any late remix fics.
