Title: Sabbatical 1996
Author: [livejournal.com profile] borgmama1of5
Tags: hospitalization, paralysis, suicidal ideation
Characters: John, Dean, Sam
Genre/pairing: Gen, h/c, Teen!chesters
Rating: PG-13
Word-count: 11,200
Summary: A hunt gone bad, and John is faced with an untenable situation.
Reccer’s comments: [livejournal.com profile] sandymg says: Really heartwrenching, relentlessly driven story of a horrible hunting incident that leaves Dean paralyzed. Cleverly fits into canon. And examines the relationship between John and his boys in a frank and sparse manner that just rings so true. I dare anyone to read the first few sentences and not keep going.

Title: Free and Clear
Author: [livejournal.com profile] merryish
Tags: Dean’s deal, hell/post-hell issues, hugs/cuddling, shock, size differential
Characters: Dean, Sam, Bobby
Genre/pairing: Sam/Dean, AU
Rating: Adult
Word-count: 6,641
Spoilers: post-AHBL2
Summary: "You don't even know what you're thanking me for."
Reccer’s comments: [livejournal.com profile] maypoles says: A fic where Sam breaks Dean’s deal. This is an absolutely brilliant combination of well-written schmoop and a darker intensity. The atmosphere is a quiet, gentle one, but there’s always the undertone that for the Winchesters, love and sacrifice are the same thing, and oh, they love each other.

Title: Deanzilla vs. Hydros, [complete] and sequel: Measure of a Man [WIP]
Author: [livejournal.com profile] queeberquabbler
Tags: post-hell issues, PTSD, anxiety/panic attack, nightmares, pain, injury, kidnapping, captivity, torture, headache/migraine, fainting/collapse, heart condition, phobia, self-esteem issues, supernatural illness, poisoning, sleepwalking, transformation (uncategorized)
Characters: Sam, Dean, Bobby, some OCs
Genre/pairing: Gen
Rating: PG-13 for language.
Spoilers: up through "Wishful Thinking"--takes place right after.
Summary: Dean slays a monster, only to become pretty monstrous himself. But Dean's not about to let a little (okay, very big) size issue stop him from kicking ass and taking names.
Reccer’s comments: An anon says: On top of there being much to love in the Hurt!Dean department, it's a great mix of angst, humour, schmoop and action, making it a richly layered story, both deep and light-hearted. Plus there is a very original monster, a couple of adorable OCs, and one delightfully hateful bad guy.

Title: The Year of Letting Go
Author: [livejournal.com profile] runedgirl
Tags: abandonment issues, bed sharing, blindness, deafness, hospitalization, hugs/cuddling
Genre/pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Word-count: 37,500
Summary: A hunt gone wrong leaves Dean Winchester barely alive, and helpless for the first time in his life. Can Dean let go of his need to be the big brother and let Sam help him heal, or will the complicated feelings both brothers have been hiding from each other pull them further apart than ever? As Dean’s deal comes due, both Sam and Dean will have to let go of their fears, or face losing each other forever.
Reccer’s comments: An anon says: Written for Big Bang 2008, this is a gorgeously written look at Sam and Dean’s relationship, as brothers and as more than that. Tender and achy, it’s a prime example of exactly why I love hurt/comfort as a genre.

Ft. copious amounts of wonderful, protective!Sam if you are craving him lately, as I am.

Title: Laundry Day
Author: [livejournal.com profile] silverblaze85
Tags: Dean wearing Sam’s hoodie!, fever, cold, cough, sneezing
Characters: Dean, Sam
Genre/pairing: Gen
Rating: G (rated by reccer)
Summary: Sam watched the laundry spin rapidly, the colors a psychedelic blur in the washer that’s a bit mesmerizing.
Reccer’s comments: An anon says: What’s not to love? The boys are doing laundry and poor Dean is miserably sick but adorable, with the bonus of Sam bundling him up in his hoodie.

Title: Karma ‘verse
Author: [livejournal.com profile] sinnerforhire
Tags: pneumonia, ear infection, fever, sinus infection, meningitis, mono
Characters: Dean, Sam, John, OFC
Genre/pairing: Teen and wee-chesters gen, with some het in the first part- Sam/OFC, Dean/OFC (v.v. minor)
Rating: PG-13 (language)
Summary: Dean accidentally makes out with Sam's girlfriend. Don't worry, Dean gets exactly what he deserves--the "kissing disease."
Reccer’s comments: An anon says: This series contains three separate, but equally awesome pieces of pre-series hurt/comfort. I love how the author writes pre-series Dean and Sam; they’re very much themselves, but youth lends them this endearing vulnerability. And then of course sick!Dean leads to more vulnerability, and I’m just in h/c heaven, reading these.

Title: Groundwork
Author: [livejournal.com profile] zatnikatel
Tags: drugs (illegal), drugged, ep: Swan Song, high, hallucinations, hell/post-hell issues, PTSD, intoxication/altered state
Characters: Dean, Ben, Sid, Sam
Genre/pairing: Gen with mentioned Dean/Lisa.
Rating: PG-13
Word-count: 3,204
Spoilers: Season 5
Warnings: references to torture
Summary: Is there a pumpkin patch in Hell?
Reccer’s comments: [livejournal.com profile] maypoles says: There are things about this fic I can’t tell you for fear of spoiling it. In short, Dean has a bad trip, and it is highly unpleasant. For him. For me, it was a nice read. It’s one of the coolest post season 5 fics I’ve read, actually.
