I'm in the middle of putting a rec-post together, but I have an insta-rec for you right now. ;D

All Along the Watchtower by [livejournal.com profile] leonidaslion @ [livejournal.com profile] leonidasden
Author’s notes/summary: A [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas gift. Spoilers through Abandon All Hope. 28,678 words. Drama, apocafic, horror. Warning: dub/non con, character death (neither of the boys), see pairing, apocafic. Dean/Sam, mention of Dean/OMCs, NC-17.

Reccer's notes: Woo hoo, apocafic! In this one Sam and Dean perform a ritual to stave off the apocalypse, leading to much delicious angst. Oh yeah, and I can’t forget to mention all the feverish!delirious!Dean in the first section. He’s my FAVE.

The story is fraught with tension – tension between Sam and Dean as much as tension over the end of the world. I love Sam/Dean-ish apocafics because they take that sense of other-ness/being separate from the rest of society that the boys have always had to the next level, and make it quite literally them-against-the-world. However, this is set post-s4/early s5, so not only do they have to deal with the end of the world, but also all the issues that have come up between them during this time period.

Bleak, but rawly emotional, just the way I like it!

We haven’t had any Dean/Castiel recs in awhile! Soooo.

Fic:

No Stranger In Your Dreams by [livejournal.com profile] parenthetical
Author’s notes/summary: Dreams can be as dangerous as reality. Written for the prompt: Dean and Castiel have been meeting each other in secret, in dreams. Something follows them one night - something with teeth. And now Dean won't wake up... Spoilers for up until the end of season 4. Warnings: Some graphic depictions of violence. Dean/Castiel, PG-13.

Reccer's notes: Totally AWESOME premise, executed with grace. When Dean is attacked in his dreams it’s up to Castiel to put his psyche back together.

Casus Belli by [livejournal.com profile] seraphwings
Author’s notes/summary: Sam's losing his grip, but it's possible to cling to your last remaining lifeline too hard. Dean/Castiel, Sam/Dean. R.

AND it’s sequel;

Aegri Somnia by [livejournal.com profile] seraphwings
Author’s notes/summary: Sam made his choice. Now it's up to Castiel to find Dean, and up to Uriel to be sure Sam isn't going to stray from the path again. Dean/Castiel, Dean and Sam. R.

Reccer's notes: Featuring mind-controlled! and traumatized!Dean, morally ambiguous!Sam and comforting!Castiel, this is one of the best descriptions I’ve read of Sam’s slide toward the dark-side in season 4. It makes sense to me that he would be off-kilter and possessive of Dean after he returns from hell, and I really feel for all of the characters here.

There’s a third part to this series, btw, a WIP which I haven’t started yet. It’s called Nosce te Ipsum.
